ESG AND CARBON BORDER ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM (CBAM) FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP

Key Concepts, Standards, and Compliance Pathways in ESG and CBAM

Course is HRD Corp Claimable

Workshop Overview

ESG is now central to sustainable business practices and investor expectations. In Malaysia, the recently launched National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) requires companies to disclose ESG performance, with a particular focus on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Similarly, in Singapore, sustainability reporting requirements introduced by SGX are making ESG and climate-related disclosures mandatory, with phased implementation beginning in 2025.

At the global level, the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requires the reporting of embedded emissions in imported products, directly impacting exporters to the EU and their upstream suppliers worldwide.

This course provides participants with practical insights into ESG adoption and reporting, as well as CBAM compliance, helping businesses align with both regional and international sustainability and regulatory expectations.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the workshop, and in line with the workshop modules structure, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the principles of ESG and how they differ from the broader concept of sustainability.

  • Develop an ESG adoption strategy using the AIM framework.

  • Identify key aspects involved in adopting and assessing ESG practices.

  • Generalize the steps to initiate ESG reporting aligned with recognized frameworks.
